Lancashire Championships - Weekend 1
Due to the Liverpool Aquatics Centre still being closed the sessions that where due to take place there in February had to be moved to Manchester and the only weekend available was the 11th and 12th January. Not ideal for our swimmers as four of them missed out on the session with Lizzie Simmonds as part of our Presentation Day/Night and they only had a full week of training after the Christmas break. On the Saturday Connie Urumov swam in the 200m Back and 400m IM, she came 6th overall in both the 200m Back and 400m IM in the 16 yera old age group and considering she has never swam the 400m IM long course before this was an excellent result. Rachel Poole and Sydney King both swam the 200m Back in the 16 year old age group with Rachel finishing in 10th place with a time just outside her pb and Sydney finished in 15th place.Alex Keegan swam in the 100m Butterfly in the 17 and over agr group finishing in 18th place again just outside his long course pb. Onto Sunday and it was Ruby Owens, Eve Schofield, Lily Anna Ireland and Ben Shiels turn. Ruby and Eve both swam in the 200 Breaststroke with both just outside their long course pb's, Eve finished 14th in the 15 year old age group with Ruby competing in the 16 year old age group finishing 13th. In the afternoon session Lily Anna swam in the 17 and over 100m Butterfly finishing in 16th place. Finally it was over to Ben who produced the best swim out of all our swimmers in the 400m IM. Ben has never swam this distance long course before and he went out really strong, probably too strong as he swam the 100m fly faster than he ever, but it didn't seem to faze him as he never faded and finished really strong. His time of 5:30 saw him finish in 9th place in the 15 year old age group.
