Lancashire Age Group Championships - Weekend 3
The final weekend and again some really impressive long course personal best swims and a couple of medals as well.
In the 13 year old age group Eric Byrne was ranked first going into the 50m freestyle final after an impressive time in the heats of 28.68. In the final he had a lot to do as with 10 metres to go he was in second place but pure determination and the fact he never took a breath from the flags into the wall he touched out the Manchester swimmer in a time of 28.27 to win his second gold medal of the Championships in a new personal best time. Eric also swam in the 100m Backstroke and although he never made the final he improved his pb by 6 seconds to 1.17 after previously swimming 1.23 last July in Sheffield.
In the 14 year old age group Holly Barden finished 4th in the 200m Freestyle matching her pb time however she made up for missing out on a medal in the 200 by claiming silver in the 50m Freestyle in a time of 28.60 a new pb even by her own admission not having the best of starts in the final.
In the 15 year old age group we had pb's from Sydney King in the 100m Backstroke, Ruby Owens in the 50m Breastroke and Emily Morris in the 50m Freestyle. Rachel Poole just missed out on a pb but was happy with her swim.
In the 16 year old age group, after years of trying, Lily Anna Ireland finally achieved her first Lancashire medal finishing 3rd in the 50m Breaststroke. Lil swam 35.93 which was a new pb in the heats, and improved that further in the final by swimming 35.77.

In the 17 and over age group Libby Manning swam an impressive 100m Backstroke matching her pb time of 1.10 and Criostai Hayden Callen, again in the 100m Backstroke, improved his pb by over a second to 1.05.14.
